This collaborative event is presented by the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, the Hawaii Department of Education and the Hawaii Community Foundation in partnership with the Pillars of Peace Fund of the Hawai‘i Community Foundation and the Hawaii Society for Technology in Education to highlight the best practices that are taking place in our learning environments today and being planned for those of tomorrow.

基調講演3 George Couros
George Couros is a leading educator in the area of innovative leadership, teaching, and learning. He has worked with all levels of school, from K-12 as a teacher, technology facilitator, and school and district administrator, and is the author of the book, The Innovator’s Mindset; Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity.He is a sought after speaker on the topic of innovative student learning and engagement and has worked with schools and organizations around the globe. George is also the creator of Connected Principals.com, an initiative that brings educators and leaders together from around the world to create powerful learning opportunities for students. Although George is a leader in the area of innovation, his focus is always on the development of leadership and people and what is best for learners. His belief that meaningful change happens when you first connect to people’s hearts, is modelled in his writing and speaking. 非常にパワフルな講演でした。時代の変化、子どもたちの変化を前提に学校が、教師が今すべきことが何かを学習者の視点から楽しい事例をもとに紹介し、聴衆が「変わらなくてはいけない」と強く感じさせる講演でした。終わった瞬間のスタンディングオベーションが象徴的でした。 <講演メモ> 子どもの好奇心を殺さない 指示するのではなく行動を変化させる工夫を教師がする 学習特性があることを理解する 時代も子どもも変化したことを前提とする 学び方が変化していることも知る Data driven?! – Student Learner Driven Growth Mindset – Innovation Mindset 学校の外で子どもたちが多くのことを学んでいることを知る |

米国でPBLをリードするBuck Institute for Education https://www.bie.org/
Hawaii Innovative Leaders Network はBIEがハワイの複数の学校の管理職と編成したPBLを学校全体に導入する手法を学ぶ活動。
その手法はLearning Walk。 カリフォルニアでの研修もそうであったが、現場から学ぶ。評価ではなく、何ができるか、実践を共有するという発想が必要なことを再確認した。

The Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC) (大学入学のための成績表のありかたを研究する中等教育学校のコンソーシアム)の発起人でもあるPunahou School(ハワイ私学御三家と言われる学校の一つ)での取り組みをもとに参加者と今後の方向性や手法についての意見交換。

教育を通じて獲得する素養が変化し、身につけるための手法も変化しているにもかかわらず、大学に提出する成績のフォーマットは変わっていない。参加者からは「大学が求める成績はこれからの生徒たちの将来にとって何も意味をなさないものだ」などのコメント。
ではどの様に評価すべきか。全米の高校教師がこのテーマに取り組んでいるのが印象的だった。
